New to this, have roosting bar and nexting box questions please help!

Here you can see part of the ramp attached to the roost. It's a 2x10 with treads at about a 45 degree angle.

We have 4 nesting boxes for our 16 Red Stars and most days we find 13 eggs in one box and one or two in the other...I was however wondering how wide a roost bar should be and will modify that, because ours are very skinny. The outside of the coop is done and now we're tackling the inside so this info came in very handy. Thanks~
