Over the years I have been keeping a small flock of girls in and off depending on life’s demand at the time.
Twelve months ago I got back into it. Sadly the passing of my brother, who was a devoted chicken lover of all breeds, meant there was nowhere for his girls. I took a few isa browns, hy-lines, and recently added another 4 to the flock. One of my brothers girls has developed small wart like things on her comb. Wi seeing what they are and what to do about them. Any suggestions?

Welcome to BYC and I'm sorry for your loss.
I suspect your hen might have "dry" fowl pox. It's a viral disease and is mainly due to infected mosquitos. I recommend applying iodine to the scabs and they will eventually dry up and disappear, avoid the eyes when using iodine. You do not want other birds picking/pecking the scabs. There's the chance that a bird can get "wet" fowl pox inside the mouth and esophagus, then the bird will have to be culled.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am so sorry you lost your brother, :hugs I hope your heavy heart heals soon.

As stated above, warts on the combs generally indicate Dry Pox, a virus spread by mosquitoes. Your birds may feel a bit run down for a few weeks, I'd offer up some probiotics or even a good poultry supplement like Poultry Cell. Definitely keep these birds separated to prevent this from spreading. Best wishes!
