I have a couple of questions for you guys with a whole lot more knowledge than me.

#1 I supposedly have jumbo browns they are 4 weeks old today are you guys sure that the chests are speckled they are female and rusty male?

#2 What age are they ready to be butchered?

#3 For when I get my own eggs to incubate I, I use a hovabator incubator, at lockdown do you guys just lay the eggs on the wire or do you take the racks out of the turner and leave the eggs in the racks?

Thanks any answers would be greatly appreciated!

The females usually have a spotted breast and the males have a rust-colored breast but I have had some females without spotted breast feathers. However, the non-spotted females do not have a rust-colored breast, their breast feathers are blond like the other females'.

You can butcher anytime you want, but they are 'full grown' at 10-12 weeks. After 8 weeks they don't put on much more weight though.

As for lockdown that is primarily personal preference. I have done it both ways with similar results, it just depends on whether I'm setting more eggs and need the quail racks.

WOW i wasn't expecting a reply so fast, well I guess that pretty much answers it for me.
Thank you for your help it is greatly appreciated!

Chris
