(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I've been referencing the site for three years to learn about hatching and keeping chickens.

We have hatched 6 sets of eggs since 2013. We use a Brinsea and a Kingsuro incubator of the automatic temp/humidity type. The most recent set is with ECO (krav) eggs bought at the local supermarket. To sell eggs as 'ecological (krav)' in Sweden requires that flocks have Roosters, which means some eggs are fertilised!

Since they are cleaned and shipped as food, we weren't expecting a high hatch rate. Last year we got just 25% from such eggs. But they are awesome layers.

This year, of 45 eggs put into the incubators just 8 developed, but all 8 looked good on day 20 when we hiked the humidity. No pips until day 23:) By today (day 24) 2 of the 8 had hatched, and we just got another pip an hour ago!

We've never had a chick hatch past day 22 before. Our Machines are high quality and pretty new. Any ideas on why lies behind the late hatch?

Welcome to BYC.
:yesss: We are glad you joined this flock!
Jump right in and make yourself at home.

X2 on purchasing an extra thermometer or two ( Walmart sells cheap fish tank ones) and calibrating them. And pick up another humidity gauge and salt test it. The thermometer that comes with the bator can't be trusted.
