Today we had a goat kid. A week and a half before the due date! The babies were both practically dead. One I was positive had died till I picked him up and could feel his heart beating. It was practically 70 degrees outside, but the babies were cold, especially the one little buckling. The mama was at a loss about what to do with them since these were her first kids! So, while the husband and grand-daughter were rubbing/massaging the stronger one, I took the other one to the garage. I put him under my Brinsea EcoGlo 50 brooder. 20-30 minutes later and he was coming around! I was impressed with the brooder from the first, but now I am thrilled to death with it! The little Bantam Cochin chick that was in the pen with the brooder & goat was mighty curious about the whole ordeal, also! Of course, you have to be attentive the whole time, just to be on the safe side. Don't want them hopping up and ruining the brooder! But, this ended up being a great use for the brooder and it worked like a charm!
