We have two Ducks and various other pets.
They are just a couple months old now
One is a Pekin and the other is a Mallard.
I'm pretty sure the Mallard (Clyde) is a male, cause he has curly tail feathers and he has the feathers of a male now.
The Pekin we still not sure cause both male and females are all white. But Bonnie, we think is a female, cause, her tail feathers have all but straightened out.
Any advise on how to be 'more sure' of their sex would be helpful.
Our ducks love Mandarin Oranges, but, I read it is bad for them. They gobble 'em up as fast as I can give em to 'em.
They also love canned-corn and pineapples and spinach.. but, I guess spinach is not good for them either.. is that really true?
They got a 10x10 chain-link pen with chicken wire wrapped about 4' up on inside (so they can't poke their heads through..). There is a tarp on the top of the pen which gives them cover from the sun and partially from the rain.. I had to cut holes in it to let the water out, cause it was just crushing that chain link pen.
They have a nice dog house which they are just recently starting to use.. Can I put pine needles as bedding in there for them? I have an unlimited supply of that mess.. lol.
There are two medium sized kiddie pools dug in to ground level, that I have hoses going to. and I just let them overflow onto the white-sandy ground.. and that makes them the happiest ducks in the world.. They dig in the sand and quack their feathers off, lovin' it.
They most of the time just sleep in the kiddie pool.. floating there with there heads tucked in and one big fat eyeball open. But, even though that eye is open, I can tell that they are sleeping, cause, if they weren't and they knew I was standing there, they would be running around crazy quacking their heads off..
They are only a couple months old, however, they deff know their names and they ring a cat-toy bell in their cage on demand.
