Hello to everyone!
With the advanced training am introduced to many poultry diseases, biosecurity, laboratory test for programs such as NPIP run by the USDA, flock health and evaluations, diagnostics and many other experiences. I am not sure where my training will take me but I am open to everything. I will be working with other veterinarians on special procedures such as surgery and emergencies but that will most likely be as a consultant.
I am open to question but as I said I am learning...so I am here to gain knowledge from all of you that have WAY more experience than I do!
I once considered going for the Poultry Science Degree and the curriculum at UGA is similar if not the same as your program - but my reasons were to try to better care for pet chickens. I also looked at the Avian Health and Medicine program which I think focuses more on practice - but I don't have a DVM and that's the admission requirement

Chicken owners are quite crazy ( and I'm proud of that

I believe y'all will have opportunity in your courses to learn more than we can from textbooks and google searches. Feel free to ask questions, you'll find most folks here helpful and friendly.
But I am certain we all will love to hear your input as your studies progress.
