Hi! We are in the process of building our first chicken coop and getting a batch of 6 chicks. We've got a brooder setup and are looking for chicks now. This is new to us, but we hope to become a little more self sufficient by raising our own dual purpose birds. We're located in western Washington in the foothills of the cascades.

Your local feed store should be carrying chicks this time of year, or you can even order them on line from hatcheries. Make sure winter has lost is't grip on your area so the chicks get shipped to you in good order.

You can also chat with others in your state to see where they are getting their chicks from...

Enjoy your new adventure and welcome to BYC!

Thanks, guys! So we ended up getting 7 chicks from our local feed store. 4 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Americauna, and 1 Silver Lace Wyandotte.
