Hello,
My husband Scott and I (Chris) thought that raising chickens for eggs would be fun to do with our two kids. Plus I am hoping that I will be able to eat fresh eggs as I can not eat the ones in stores. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one cause I miss eating eggs. We also plan on raising Broilers after we get the hang of the laying chickens that we are getting. I am super excited to get the chicks and start raising them with the family. It should be a fun adventure and a good learning environment for the kids. I have already learned so much from this site and look forward to sharing our adventures.

I guess that I should of read the questions section first.

My family and I have never done chickens before so this will be a first time go. The girls will be here on Monday, 3 barred rock, 3 SLW, and 4 Americanas. We were supposed to have 2 silkies also but were we are getting them from do not have them yet so we will have to wait and introduce them to the others later. The brooder is ready to go in the basement now I just need my chicks.

I found BYC by searching the net for information as most of what you can buy is general and we wanted to be able to have first hand experiace knowledge. Everything that we have seen on the site has been great. Now if it would just stop snowing we could finish the coop, I have been looking at the coop design pages and have gotten some great ideas that I can use as we are converting an old shed.

Thanks for a place where chicken lovers can come together.
