Hi All!
So I am new to BYC with a few questions about Roosters.
We live in a rural area and our property is about 24 acres.
Someone dumped a rooster on our land last week and thankfully I was able to catch him before he got eaten by something. We went to every house on our road and no one is missing a rooster. Or at least they claim to not be.
He is a really nice rooster and we decided to name him Doodle. He lets me hold him and rub him. I believe he is a Black Cochin.
So my questions...
Will he be happy without hens?
He seems to have a lot of thick scabs on his back. Could this be from him being pecked at?
He also has a red knob looking thing on his tail? No clue what it is. I have checked him over for fleas, lice and mites. Didn't see any.
We have 4 Welsh Harlequin Ducks. 1 male and 3 females. Do Ducks and Chickens get along?
What would be the best bedding for him?
I just want him to have a happy life, now that he is with us.
Thank you for any help or advice!
