New Year Block swap

Lol kassaundra, I had to go and buy a new rotary cutter and mat as mine have disappeared at some point in the last 5 years.. the quilt shop let me cut my fabrics at their table with their equipment ...forced to spend hours in a quilt shop..the hardship I have faced.. ;) I told Mike id be an hour, he looked at me sideways and said more like 3. He was right.

Cant wait to start the mug rug, what size did you do? I confess I shudder at the binding!

I looked it up before I started but EVERYONE had a diff opinion on the size it should or should not be, so I found a pattern I liked and it ended up that size and I didn't have to do any higher math to resize the block so was hoping it would work.

I foundation paper pieced it, so it is a "picture" of something. (OHHHHH SPOILERS!!!!!!! River Song would be so disappointed!!!! a Doctor Who thing for those I just confused)

my rug finished at about 8X8 I think your size is fine kassaundra, I wouldn't have the rug bigger than 10 inches, but then that is my opinion and I'm not the mug rug police

in googling the rug dimensions it is put anywhere from 4-10 inches, but we are doing ours to accommodate a cup,and a snack, or spoon. so again your the artist lets see what you create.

I really can't wait to see our creations.

I have made 3 lap quilts in 2 weeks, I'm taking a break then I will chain myself to the sewing machine and finish my Jan blocks, wow that felt like a marathon.

3 hours in a quilt shop, wow that could be detrimental to the pocket book, good thing you had an agenda.

I had to choose which to work on first the mug rug or the Jan swap squares, I knew I could finish the rug today, so it made me feel like I did more then I actually did! lol I still have about 1/2 of the jan squares to go.

Lol, as we know. An agenda means nothing when surrounded by fabric. ? But I was out the back and kept on task... :(
I go in those places with cash these days, , trying to be responsible. Otherwise my stash will never shrink! She showed me a super handy wedge shape ruler for circular designs, Swoooon! I have to say researching and planning for these swaps has me really inspired. Shame laundry and meals need to be attended to..

I wasn't behind until I realized I hadn't washed my fabric. Back to the fabric store. My blocks were cut and half sewn. Sigh. Well if I finish these then sew them up maybe I can wash. I may have to choose a simpler block. Happy new year everyone!
