wow have you really raised the bar guess we will have to learn to paper peice

Seriously paper piecing really was not hard. The first few times I had to concentrate on placing the pieces the correct side up, but it was very easy after that. And you don't have to worry about exact seam allowance, just sew on the line and all is good.

since I'm always a day late and a dollar short here is my opinion on washing fabric before using it

I just put it through the wash with no soap, just really a good rinsing since the fabric isn't dirty and we are just removing the sizing put on during the manufacturing process and I don't totally dry it in the dryer only to about 80% then I iron it dry as this is really the step that causes the shrinking if any. but with today's fabric and if you use a good quality fabric shrinking is not seen as it was in our mother's day. Sometimes I use spray starch if my fingers are having trouble handling the fabric. Now I'm going to tell on my self, one swap many swaps ago I forgot to wash the fabric and after my blocks were done I washed them and ironed them dry they turned out just fine, good thing cause I was not looking forward to remaking all those blocks.

LOL LOL LOL since we are confessing, I did the same (not on this swap) but a previous one washed my blocks after the fact also w/o any changes in block size. I personally think it is one of those things held over from earlier times when fabric was more apt to bleed color or shrink.

I hope you all are still plugging away and had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, lets hear from you I don't think I have missed anyone.

I'm still here. Christmas through New Years is very hectic here, but starting tomorrow, I am free to work more on my blocks to send out. Sewing stuff had to be packed away while company was here (even if it is family). Since, I've done a bunch of sampler blocks already, I just need to finish up the blocks that I'm sending out.

Kassaudra - the blocks have turned out beautifully. What a talented person you are!

I toyed w/ the idea at the beginning of this swap of signing up for 2 (since it was ONLY 12 blocks) man oh man am I glad I didn't do that!!!!! lol

Wow! Just beautiful!
Majack has her father staying, he comes every year for Christmas and stays for several weeks so Mary is busy looking after him, he is 90 but you wouldn't know it!
