@katsdar I looked around for a tree silhouette and found this type of primitive look that I like so I copied it over the top of the original tree, I'm going to cut it out of the green fabric you see here, it has an embossed look to it so maybe give some texture. Maybe add some seed beads after-wards. I'll have to see what the rest of the wall hanging looks like.

Well my NYDH 2 chicks are doing fine. I spent 10 hrs canning today & am exhausted.
The temp went from 51F (&raining) in 90 mins to 34F (&snowing)
we now have a sheet of ice, covered in 2 inches of snow, winds have been blowing crazy all day,
tomorrow is predicted high of 11F w/ a windchill of -15F (this is not good)

& I have a batch of eggs due Wed, was going to LD tomorrow but got that gut feeling to candle b/f bed,
well I have an internal pip!
so now I'm waiting for the hatcher to heat up so I can move this batch of eggs!!

I've got about 36 more lids I can use tomorrow then I'll be done canning for the duration & onto the all quilt piecing channel for the rest of the winter ...

I might take a nap first though ; /

FeyRaine You have been busy and your weather went from zero to sixty. It is raining here and am expecting sleet anytime now. We are certainly experiencing crazy weather this winter.

We have mastered chicken math but quilting math eludes! I have made 11x11 blocks. Finished size 10.5 square. Crap. Shoot me now.

I cut my outer border pieces a 13/4 instead of 2inches.. same boat. Had a wee lie down. 12inch block instead of 12.5.
Argh!

I have decided that since this mystery quilt is called "Life's a Journey" the tree should have some sort of meaning, so I grew up with date palms in my back yard and I am now on the hunt for a simple pattern. I think I have one I like and now to work on it. I appreciate the help, I really do like your tree RustyHen,

katsdar You are right about the meaning that's why I chose the more (I hope) real tree. Growing up in Pacific Northwest this kind of tree every where.
Please show me your date palm, sounds great.
