New Years Hatch Anyone?

I put mine in and they are 2 days late! Now I'm seriosly wondering if any will hatch. I had sever bator problems New Years eve and my bulb blew. I dodn't catch it till the next morning. Then I couldn't get the new bulb to get back to temp. I have it stable now after 2 days but I seropisly think my chicks are gone. I'm rechecking them tommorrow and gonna open a couple to see what went wrong if they don't hatch. I think they died though! I'm so sad!

I'm crossing my fingers for ya! Mine don't look so promising anymore! Find out tommorrow! I see everyones chickies that have hatched and i'm so jealous! I keep looking at my bator waiting to hear cheep cheep and nothing! Oh well, Good luck all!

Sherris it's the same here not a peep out of anyone in the bator & so I hear you. I told myself I wouldn't allow myself to get too bumbed out if this happened because it was just an experiement to start with & they were shipped in a ice storm etc but now that I'm here I would like to have seen at least 1 or 2 survive. i told myself that maybe mine are just a day behund for some reason but I dunno. I haven't checked in a few hours & so maybe it's time I go do that now.

good luck to you.

Before you open anything, read the sticky on helping a chick hatch (top of the incubation page) Have a pair of pointy tweezers, some really warm water, q-tips and paper towel ready. They may have just slowed developement when the temps went down. Many people have their chicks hatch late....so seriously, they could be just fine. Go into it with that thought and be super careful when you open those eggs.

Good luck!

I had to do that last time. I opened them and had 4 fully formed chicks that must've died at the end when the lamp blew they were all fully formed and had some yolk sac still attatched. I had 5 quitters that must've died early on because there wasn't much to them and 3 clears. I'm gonna have to go to the feed store and get some babies, my son is gonna be heartbroken if I tell him. Hopefully I get back before he gets up and looks!
