Very nice article, covers a broad range of topics. They even mention raising a hen in a city apartment, suggesting the Olandsk dwarf hen as ideal.

However, I have my doubts about this statement in the article:: "Martha Stewart made chickens fashionable in the 1990s". :)
 
That's so cool! More and more people are getting into chickens, and I think that is wonderful news!!

It's refreshing to see more and more good press about the delights of backyard chickens.
 
Great article! I love eggs and can easily eat them in place of meat at nearly every meal. I do worry about cholesterol, though, even from home-raised eggs. However, that doesn't stop me much from eating them.

I think it's funny that the Greenfire Farms guy suggested one of his own breeds he sells for $99/pair as indoor chickens. I'm sure there are many bantam breeds that would suffice! That said, his breeds are wonderful, quite rare, and sorely in need of preservation. I just can't afford them!
