Hi There from Colorado, been wanting chickens for years (and reading about, studying up, talking to other chicken owners) and finally did it this week to celebrate viruspalooza 😷 I have 4 chicks; one each Ameraucana, Speckled Sussex, Buff Orpington and Polish. They are 1-2 weeks old. Have them in a plastic container with a Brinsea brooder and can watch them on my Nestcam, right now, from the next room since I'm working from home. Planning their outdoor area. I have a large yard so trying to decide where to put the coop and run. Here is a timelapse video of the chicks from this morning.

It’s nice to meet you!
Good luck raising your new chicks! :jumpy

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Busy little buggers aren't they?
You might need a screen over the top of the brooder in the not so distant future as they will be flying up to the edge very soon.
You can also cut up pieces of cardboard to place on the top of the brooder plate and change them daily to minimize them pooping on top of it.

Agreed! Hard to believe how they've changed in the 5 days I've had them, they will be teenagers soon! Two are now hanging out on the brooder looking out and beyond. The brooder plate has a clear plastic cover on it, it came with it. Have had to wipe it clean a few times now.
