Hi I am new here and fairly new to chickens. About a month ago my daughter got 8 white leghorns, a week later she got 3 red rocks (what tractor supply called them) and 2 Rhode island reds.

All were supposed to be sexed and female.

I am pretty sure with the red rocks we have 1 or 2 roosters.

This is only a problem because my daughter thinks it is wrong to eat fertilized eggs and not let them go.

She has names for 4 of the 5 colored chickens and the one I am pretty positive is a boy is one of them. She is super sad.

Because now we have to rehome him if I am correct.

But this is my first foray into chickens so I don’t even know if I am correctly sexing this chick who is about 4 weeks old.

Congrats on your new chicks! Sexed chicks usually has 90% accuracy. Unless auto sexed breeds.
Wait until your chicks are a few weeks older, then post individual pictures to see if gender can be confirmed.
And ….. :welcome
Nice to have you here
Thanks. So about 6 weeks is the best time? Just to be sure. And thanks. I am going to have my daughter read the post about how to take correct pictures and then get them for me. I don’t necessarily want her unsupervised on a forum, even at 15 but want her to do as much as she can on her own with the chickens.

She wanted them and while I supervise and know they may end up mine like every other animal my kids have gotten, I want to ensure that she has a shot to do it on her own.
