Hi,
Just thought I'd introduce myself since I had a chicken sexing question. I live on the Central Coast of California. I've never had chickens before and bought my first 10 the 15th of June. I've lurked on this board on and off for a few months now, and though I only check this site every other week or so, really enjoy the topics and learning about new things.
I now have 9 chickens (I lost one within the first few weeks
). 3 Easter Eggers, 1 Dominique, 1 Delaware, 1 Australorp, 1 Buff Orphington, and 2 Wyandotte (silver and golden laced). These guys have been a wonderful introduction to having chickens, and I am having so much fun! I sit with them for about an hour a day just to pet and hang out with them.
My husband built me a large coop (he's a structural engineer - everything that gets built is way over done at our place
), and we made a temporary run for the chicks. Eventually they'll be free range and brought inside at night. They have two acres to play on with several other species - 3 horses, 4 cats, and 2 dogs.
I guess that's enough about me. I'm pleased to meet you all, and I appreciate this nice place for other chicken obsessed people to come, learn, and chat!
