I've been reading the BYC forum for amount 4 months now. You've had a lot of insightful comments, I've noticed.
I'm a city-to-the-country transplant, so I really don't know as much as I'd like. My grandfather and mother-in-law had experience with chickens and rabbits. They both, ironically bought about 100 young stock each, but my grandfather had to sell the rabbits (--he didn't have the heart to kill them,) and my mom-in-law had to have her brother butcher the chickens, so their advice didn't really help me much. I'm blessed to have a next door neighbor who HAS kept several hundred chickens in his day, and he's offered to help. We'll probably do some bartering.
