newbie and my delema today....

Our family and friends are just the opposite! When we have folks over for dinner, they ask if it something that we raised. They request it!

I'm not sure that I could let that family member over in my house again after her calling authorities on me for not doing anything wrong.

Good luck on this one!

For petes sake!! I have never heard of such nonsense.

But mama always said "If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all."

I gotta do this again

Slightly off topic here.

T-Bone and Sirloin are my two steers names!

Now back to the discussion

I think that your sister was completely off her rocker. Even if she didnt agree with what you did, you dont just call animal control on your family members. One question though, did she comment that she really enjoyed that dinner?

That is just nuts. I cant believe the ASPCA even came out. Seriousy wonder what is wrong with people.

The poster that recommended you educate her by showing her how commercial chickens are raised and killed has the right idea. If she is so concerned about humane treatment of animals, that should change her view. Of course, your sister is obviously not running on all 8 cylinders, seeing as how she TURNED YOU IN!!!! So educating her might be a lofty goal....

Oh my! is all I can say. I can't imagine the ASPCA even showing up about butchering home grown chicken. That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. And your sister would be on my - not invited to dinner ever again- list. Shame on her. It is one thing to disagree, but to try to get you in trouble. I bet she did that a lot as a kid, too. So sorry you have to deal with a mean family member.

I have a hard time seeing why anyone would be upset from a "home made rooster" dinner. LOL Let me guess she will eat farm fresh eggs tho.....those are not from the store. I don't see it as any weirder. Gezzzzz...

So sorry about your drama........

unfortunately your sister can't be trusted. Do you have kids if so be carefull since she didn't get anywhere with the ASPCA she may be calling DSS next cause you killed the rooster with the child present.
I would sit her down with one of those movies showing commercial slaughter. She needs to be confronted with the consequences of her choice to eat grocery store meat. Your birds are way more humanely treated
I too believe in a ritual of thanks for the life of an animal that nourishes my body
