You should totally come down to the chicken show in Morganton in April! You'll not know addiction until you start looking there and making wish lists!

Absolutely! I would love to go to the show in Morganton in April. I really want to go to the March 6th show in Salisbury but that is just a little to far for a early Saturday morning. Especially If I have to be there by 8am to get the best deals.

Now that I moved the heat lamp up away from the tank (thank godness for the clamp and snowflakes advice) my babies have the full time to roam. They are loving it. And I just couldn't resist - I put a flat smooth rock in there and some small wood - they love laying on them too. They run back and forth across the tank , glad it has some length to it. They definitely are 'followers' if they think one chick has something cool them they all chase it to see what it has. Can't get enough of this 'Chicken TV' - LOL.

I am going to try one more night with the birds upstairs in the living room, if that one chirps loud tonight then I have to put them downstairs between it wakes us up. It is so odd that it only gets super loud at 2-3am. Right now every one is quiet as can be, just tiny little chirps.

I don't sleep any more. It seems all my barred rock girls are away at night and that's when they are active and "talking". I don't have any super chirpers in this batch, though, thank goodness, but certainly have before.

I'm a total suck. Planned to brood these outside with a light. haha Nope! So I have 8 babies in the basement and a jersey woolie buck whose cage just isn't secure enough from the weather for him to be outside.

The tank is great raised several rounds in ours. The SLW will out grow pretty fast but for now the only thing I see is change the heat lamp from white bulb to red one and everyone will sleep better!!

Loved my SLW.

Yeah I bought the red lamps and only use it.

I am hoping now that I raised the bulb up higher today that things will be better. They are using and playing all over the tank now, so already it made a difference. The temp gauge reads 90 on the side where the lamp is, if it is accurate. At two weeks that is still pretty warm but they seem ok with it. The water is at the far other end to keep it cooler.
