While I'm not new to NY or to the farming lifestyle, I am new to raising chickens. It's taken me years to convince my Brooklyn-born husband that chickens would be the perfect compliment to our backyard. He finally caved.
We're just getting started with coop plans and supplies.
My goal is to surprise my young sons with chicks on Easter Sunday and build my flock from there.
Wish me luck!
