Hey everyone! I was given 7 chicks from a friend and 3 of them ended up being roosters. They are now about 5 moths old and after reading and watching them grow I realized that I am not cut out to keep the three roosters. My instinct is to rehome two and keep one: success! I found homes for the two but now I am starting to feel bad. One of the boys Snuffy has taken a liking to a particular hen named Penny. They seem to “hang out”constantly and I even caught them making what looked like a nest together... he didn’t want me in the coop at that point and I get this weird tingle up my spine that tells me to stay away when he acts like that:

Am I making the right decision? Will Penny be ok once Snuffy is gone? Is having three roosters possible with only 4 hens? Ugh

Welcome to BYC! Penny will be just fine without Snuffy. Trust me, she will move on. And if Snuffy is making you uncomfortable with his behavior, it is best that he goes. He may turn out to be human aggressive.

Thanks Jed. They used to be cute and want me around! Now I don’t like when they act that way to me but I surely don’t stand for it either. Haha Suppose I figured that I’d best leave it alone since he will be gone soon....

Totally agree with Jed. Penny will be fine, and so will you if Snuffy moves out.

Oi ok, thank you. Franky, the one boy we’re keeping, has never shown any type of aggression towards me or my family at all and has always seemed to be the mediator between the other two.

Wait?! Now will rehoming the two boys separately be good for the families they go to? I’m thinking too many boys is the reason for the aggressiveness. 😳 I’m probably thinking too much!!
