Newbie chicken owner

Hi All, I am a newbie to owning chickens. I bought 3 Sussex hens 2 weeks ago - 2 speckled and 1 Lavender. Their setup and yard is complete and they have settled in well and love the space they have to run around. They are such a joy - I don't know why we didn't do this sooner! I look forward to reading posts from people that have more experience with chickens than me!

Congratulations on your Sussex hens and discovering the joy of chickens!

I have a dozen breeds in my mixed flock, and my Speckled Sussex, Bronwyn, is the most likely to be my "helper" whether I'm trying to clean coops -- where she scratches apart anything I have piled up -- or refilling water dishes -- where she has to peer underneath and search for worms. If she's any indication, your girls should be curious, friendly and highly entertaining.
