Newbie design

I want to do 6'x12', but I am limited by space. 4'x12' is not big enough for the number of chickns I want.

I am not too concern about materials, there are so many irregular shorter pieces I'll need anyway based on the design. And I'll always need an extra sheet of plywood to make the nest box anyway even if I went with 4x4 coop.

I am in the process of building a coop of similar design, without the detachable run. I had initially planned for 8 x10, but space limitations required reducing it to 6 x 8.

The 6' width does require more cutting and framing in regard to the siding, but the roof worked out well as I framed it out to 8 x 10 including the overhang, so five 8-foot roofing panels cover it perfectly.

Hi all, I am new here and am designing my first coop with Sketchup. I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions.

The floor dimension is 5'x12'. Coop floor space is 5'x4'. Height of coop is 6' front / 5' back, height os run is 5' / 4'. Aiming for 5-6 chickens. Haven't quite decided on the roost placement yet. The top portion of the coop is all hardware cloth for ventilation. The front is a double door for easy cleaning. Probably going to use 1/2 plywood for walls.

I want the coop and run in 2 different pieces just in case I need to move them in the future. Roof is going to be PVC roofing panels.

Thanks!

It looks like a good!
You might consider putting your "double door for easy cleaning" on the side. If that works with your placement in the yard, you would be able to muck it out without stooping under the run roof.

wilbilt, you remind me why 5' not that bad also. I can use 12' roofing panel and cut it in half to cover the 5' wide coop/run with overhang. Cannot do that with 6' coop/run.
