Going this morning to pick up our Cornish rock meat chicks and hopefully 4 layers. My son and I have been finishing our chicks cages which came out fantastic. My 6 year old is so proud and we are all excited! I built the cages as permanent so we can use them every year if this is something we enjoy (pictures to come). The plans for the next couple weeks will be indoor and outdoor space for the layers, completely enclosed so they can go in and out as desired. Using a 10x12 horse stall for the indoor space and it should work out great I hope. This is our first try at raising livestock and hopefully it leads into other animals as well. We have about 6 acres of pasture not being used right now along with a small barn. Expect to see me lurking on here in the future!
