I just got 2 hens that are "ready to lay" according to the lady we bought them from.

What do we feed them? Right now we just have cracked corn and this evening I threw in some bread.

What about the feed that is made for laying? Is it ok for roosters to eat it too?

Oh, and what are some good snacks to give them and how often?

Thanks!

yepper you can feed the hens and roosters laying mash and some snacks are yogurt, french fries, pasta, and most other foods. you can pretty much feed them any human food that they can fit in they're mouths and it really doesnt matter too much if you aren't showing them. good luck

Thanks, y'all!

As far as scraps and veggies and fruits and such....just throw them out there to them and let them peck at them or do they need to be cut up in little tiny pieces or what?

OK, now I saw the list of food for chickens, but unless I overlooked it, I didn't see okra on there. Is it ok to feed them okra?
