Newbie first Flock

    Hello from Kentucky. Last week I brought home my first set of chicks. Bought from a local raising her own. Told they are Aracauna, 1 hen 2 roos...and 5 RIR hens. At least I hope that is what I got. Here are my babies, I am so excited! Looking forward to the egg laying! [​IMG]

    If you check out the Learning Centre, you'll find a whole host of resources on all things chicken.

    Your state thread is worth joining as you will get to know other BYC members in your area ( In fact, the search box should become your best friend [​IMG] Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

    Glad you could join us here! Congratulations on your new chicks :celebrate How exciting for you and I'm sure you will enjoy raising them very much. It's lots of fun and very rewarding as you watch them how into adult birds. The learning centre link CT left for you is a great place to start for list of fab articles that will really help you with your chicks.

    Glad you joined us at Backyard chickens. If you have any doubts about the breeds they are, you can post photos of them - at around 6-8 weeks of age at" What breed or gender is this." for more opinions.
