Good luck in your poultry adventures.

Hi! I am in Arkansas and also a fairly new chicken 'farmer'. We have heritage RIR chickens that we got mainly for my daughters FFA project. But then I started taking care of them, so now they are more mine than hers. :) Currently we have 3 hens and 1 rooster, but I have (2) 1 month old chicks I hatched and more to come in another incubator batch. My husband is also in the process of building them another coop and run.

We are still in the planning stage. I have talked my husband into it, now just have to get him to help build a chicken tractor. I think that would work best, as we are on 2.75 acres, mostly grass, surrounded by woods. Lots of predators around here! I'm not sure what breed to get yet, still looking for someone around here selling pullets. I don't think I want to start with chicks yet. And that's how I got my dog, daughter moved out and left him with me. :)

Hello everyone! I am loving all the great information and tips on this site! Anyone else from Arkansas?

Welcome both Arkansas newbies. Two Crows gave you a great link. There is also an Arkansas Swap, Meet up thread I would recommend. I would give you a link but I am on a tablet and I have no idea how to do it from here. Look forward to seeing you on the thread!
