Hi! Me and my boyfriend bought a farmhouse on 5 acres this past September and now with spring here we have decided to get some chickens! We are so excited, this past weekend was our first (nice) 60 degree weekend this spring so far so we got started on our chicken coop, it is coming along pretty well! A few of our neighbors/ friends have chickens so we have had some good "teachers".. we hope to finish our coop and run in the next few weeks. Today we got our 6- 1 week old pullets from the local farm store here, 2 buff orpington, 2 red cross (rhode island red mixed with columbian), and 2 new hampshire reds! I did a lot of research and these seemed to be the best option for us! They are now situated in our mudroom, so I can keep a close eye on them till they are old enough to move out to there new home! Here are some pics :)

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Congrats on your new babies!! Nothing better than chick TV!

Looks like your coop is coming along nicely. If you run into any issues during your build, be sure to ask around in the forums.

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our flock!
