Newbie from IL

Hi BackYard Chicken community!

I'm new here - my husband and I are enthusiastic new chicken owners. We bought 7 pullets in April and are hoping for some eggs soon!

We bought the following breeds and named them after favorite female fictional characters lol:

• Welsummer (1) - Hermione
• Black Orpington (1) - Jan
• Rhode Island Red (1) - Miss Piggy
• Crested Cream Legbar (2) - Fiona & Belle
• Blue Ameraucana (1) - Galadriel
• Jubilee Orpington (1) - Sydney Bristow

Sadly, we recently had to put down the Jubilee Orpington. She was sick most of her life - we think she had Marek's even though the hatchery vaccinates their birds for it.

We also have two big dogs - a German Shepherd named Archer and a Great Dane/Pitbull/Lab rescue mix named Numy (pronounced Nooomy lol)

We moved out of suburbia to the country in IL, a little west of St. Charles. We love it out here even though it is a lot more work
