Hi
We have been keeping chickens for about 7 years on and off (we have been cleaned out by the fox and pine Martin before).
We currently have 20 hens and a Rooster called Tom
. They are all red laying hens apart from two light Sussex's that were given to the kids as a birthday present. They are called Monster Truck and Elsa. 
Tom's mum is a cream legbar and his dad is a white silkie 
I love having the hens for the fresh eggs, for the kids to help out with and I always wanted a little farm of my own with hens since my grandparents had them when I was little. I love watching the stuff they get up to and their different personalities as well. We have a polytunnel to grow some of our own food, we keep turkeys for Christmas and the freezer for a few months in the year. We have pet goats, cats and a dog. I have two kids, a boy and a girl. I am trying to incubate some of our chicken eggs at the moment and hopefully have some chicks soon. I have been coming to this site for years for advice but just never registered until now. I might need some advice regarding my chicks so I figured I'd finally register
