Hi, first and foremost I have never had chickens, I always had cattle. My wife on the other hand grew up with chickens all her life. Now that she is home raising our 5 year old and 7 week old she told me that she needs chickens. So I started building our first coop, I choose a pallet coop. Here are some pics from last week when I started the build and also included are pics after today's progress. All I have in this coop is a grand total of 80 dollars! The pallets were free and the tin was free from a recent hail storm. So let me know what ya think!

Welcome to "Backyard Chickens"! I have found and received a lot of excellent advice from a lot of good people on here! Where in Kansas are you located? We live in Gypsum (SE of Salina). Let me know if you need anything.
 
Well my wife went to tsc and got a six pack of chicks! Lol two were unsexed so if I'm lucky I will have two roosters!?!??! Not thrilled about that but the types are reds and a white leghorn. The other three were in a tub of mixed chicks, so I guess you could say we have a melting pot! Lol
