Newbie from Michigan

Hi everyone! I’m new to the group. I have 6 9 month old chickens (leghorns, Plymouth Rock, and a light Brahma). I have four new chicks- four weeks old and allegedly Americana’s.

I have want to raise chickens for years and we finally moved somewhere it was possible. My husband got me my first coop for my birthday last year. Chicken math has already taken over and a new coop is being delivered soon!

I have a house full of kids and we love all things outdoors-especially camping. I work in organ & tissue donation and my chickens are my therapy from dealing with too much seriousness at work.

I found BYC because anytime I searched chicken related questions, BYC posts had answers. I finally decided to register and stop lurking when one of my new babies got injured & I was looking for advice.

Hi there Shannon! Welcome. I am new to chickens too and found BYC when one of mine became ill. Everyone is GREAT here! Our stories are very similar and I am a Michigander too. I got my chickens because I have always wanted them and since we have been sheltering in place, I thought it was a great time to get started.
