Hi

I am chickiemomma4 from NC and I have my first hatch in progress right now. I have spent many days studying and reading on BYC and it has paid off. I read the novel stored here about humidity and took the advice of many on that thread and it paid off. I live very near the coast and we have high humidity, so I tried the dry hatch method. I have been having chickies pipping and popping out with ease. It is so exciting. One surprise though was I started in lockdown yesterday morning on day 18 and yesterday evening they started hatching. (Must need to lower my temperature by a degree). I had 4 by this morning and now one more. Still have 14 eggs left, so we shall see. They are so adorable! They have even been taking little sips of water from the end of the tube I put in the plug hole to add a little water to keep the humidity at the correct level. Who says chickies aren't smart. I know now why everyone says this is addictive! I'm hooked. Who's got eggs!

Hi

Thanks for the info. I have a digital but it doesn't read in tenths. What type would you recommend? They are still hatching although the rate has slowed down. Can the hatch take 3 days or longer? They are so gorgeous.
