Hi everyone! So I got caught by the chicken bug and I have quite the group going right now. I think I may have an obsession lol I have 7 2-week old chicks (rare breed varieties that I'm not sure what they actually are yet. I'll post below so maybe someone can identify them for me) the waiting is unbearable! I also have 6 5-week old chicks: buff orpingtons, barred rocks, and Australorps. Since I was impatient for eggs, I bought 3 yearling chickens: 2 Americauna and 1 Welsummer.
The only ones in the coop right now are the 3 yearlings. The rest are cozy in my garage....for now. The 5 week olds are really getting antsy to get out. I've had them outside fenced in for a couple hours at a time and they LOVE it! I think they really want to be outside....but is it too soon? They will be 6 weeks old in three days. It's been in the 90s here so it's definitely warm enough. They also have all their feathers it looks like.
My husband, my two daughters (6&3), and I are soo excited to have these new family members! I appreciate your advice!
