Hi All from Nova Scotia !
New to this board and to raising chickens.
This all started when my daughter who is in 4H decided this year that she wanted to do Poultry.
Hubby built her an 8X8 coop and here we go. She got her trio of Black Cochins on Good Friday..Robby Rooster, Missy (short for Miss Attitude) and Shadow. Was advised that if she wanted the eggs, then these birds wouldn't really do it. So last week added 2 brown layers to the flock.
In the coop, the first 3 feet is designed for storage of needed supplies and then the coop part is divided into 2. The rooster is kept seperate and the 4 hens are together. Each side does have its own outside run area as well. There is a large window and the door has a screen door as well. Hopefully lots of ventiliation for them.
Off now to look at the boards to see how to wash these babies. I don't like the look of the poop on their pretty black feathers.
