Hello from Licking County, Ohio,
Who thought marshmallow peeps were just for Easter. That is how the subject came up between my 3 daughters and their grandmother. "I remember when I was little we used to get live chicks colored in pink, blue, purple and green for Easter" Oh the stories grandma has. Thanks Mom? A week later and we now have 6 live peeps, albeit only in colors a la natural. We have plenty of outdoor space and it is cheaper than keeping horses. I'm glad the chicks stay inside for 8 weeks before they need to go to the coop. This ought to give me plenty of procrastinator's time behind wheel of my coop construction. I guess my expectations for maintaining a flock are: great eggs, garden pest control and maybe creating a 4-H 'er or two. Wish us luck!
