Hello there! I am not new to chickens, I have had them Illegally (shh...don't tell anyone
for 3 - 4 years now. I currently have Black Australorps, 4 hens and unfortunately 5 roosters (not good for outlaw chickens). They all came from my child's 4th grade hatching project (way to go 4th grade, our best hatch yet!). I found BackYardChickens.com over 4 years ago when we just began thinking about raising chickens for food (EGGS ONLY...they are my family too).
I am a stay-at-home mom with a DH of 12 years, 3 children: 7 yr. old son, 10 yr. old daughter and 15.5 yr. old step-daughter. We have 1 Boxer, 1 Mini Pinscher, 2 Sphynx cats (yes the hairless ones
), 1 Mini Lop and currently 9 Black Australorps. When I can find the time away from keeping all of that and the house in order, I enjoy being a Home Room Mom in 2nd grade, trying to finish my loom knitting projects or starting a new one or playing a game on the computer (Mom Time!).
