Hello to another SC person!!! I'm in Sparkle City aka Spartanburg. I love silkies too. What colors do you have? And how in the WORLD did you ever decide what incubator to buy??? fortunately my FIL let me add four silkie eggs in w/ his Maran's. I need one DESPERATELY though..... welcome again, Nikki

Welcome!
Good luck with your upcoming hatch. You will love the Brinsea. Keep us posted on how things are going. The hatchers here in BYC are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and supportive.

Go GAMECOCKS!!!!

Hey!! Thanks for all of the warm welcomes. Carolina Chicken Keeper, I did alot of searches on the internet, and Brinsea incubators kept popping up, and the reviews were fantastic. Thats what made me decide to purchase one. I don't have any silkies yet, but all of the eggs in the bator are bearded silkie eggs that I purchased off of ebay. I bought chicks last year, only have 6 hens. 2 black sexlinks, 1 golden comet, 1 barred rock and 2 easter eggers. Anyway, I set my eggs in the bator late yesterday. The temperature isn't coming back up to 99.5, it is at 98 as of this morning, and the digital thermometer that I have in the bator is all over the place reading up and down in a matter of minutes, it will read 100 then down to 97 and then anywhere in between. I am running the bator with an egg automatic egg turner cradle. I ran the bator for 2 days before setting the eggs, and the temp steadily held at 99.6. Any suggestions as to whether or not I should adjust the thermostat or wait a little longer to see if it regulates itself back to the correct temp? After fighting with the other bator that kept spiking temps, I am almost afraid to mess with the temperature control.
