Newbie from the northern Catskills of New York

oh I am in New Rochelle NY not that far from you, I think it used to take a little over an hour to get to the catskills if I remember correctly (havent been there since I was young so dont know for sure.)

I have tons of chicks, some from Mt healthy and many that I have hatched from good breeders.

If you think you would like some send me a pm I am sure we could work something out.

If you are looking for a roo I have some very nice ones also

Chicken keeping is much like you remember it. I was in the same boat when I got back into chicken keeping again.
Check your library for references. They sure help me with my budget! And had some good books on general care, too.

But this is really a very good source of info, here!!

AHappychick Well, I'm still very much in the beginning stages of this chicken thing. But I am in Yorktown about every week and I have to go out on LI every month or so. I'll keep you in mind when I'm ready to commit.

wegotchickens Yes, a few books from the library is what got this chicken ball rolling.

I do have to address the issue of coyotes and our neighbors dogs. And possibly my dog for that matter.

Thanks

Welcome! I love the Catskills. I was born in Upstate NY but moved to CT when I was three. We used to drive up to visit family during school vacations. Before the Thruway was built (yup-I'm that old!) we'd go up through the Catskills. Just gorgeous!
