Hello... hoping to learn a lot and chat about the girls!! 4 Amerucana (i'm not the best speller) hens, Reba, Nellie, Joy, and Crab Man (long story on her name). Wondering if the heat will cause the girls to stop laying? We've looked all over the place, and haven't gotten eggs for the last 4 days, and we usually average 3 per day. None in the next boxes, and none out in the open. Next door neighbors young rooster just started crowing, could this stress my girls, or is the heat a better guess? plenty of food and water, and health is fine?

Thanks!!

they will take a brake in laying when it gets to hot. They will start again when the next few cooler days come through. I try to give them treats like watermelon, cucumber anything that has water in them when really hot. They tend to lay every other day to every 2 days when hot. They will stop laying when molting too. Hope this helps you out some.

Don't know if "Crab Man" is from My Name is Earl...but DH loves/loved that show!!! lol Welcome to the forum!

The heat could be the reason your girls aren't laying, but if they're free rangers, I'm betting they're laying elsewhere...maybe in a cooler spot??? It's been hot here, but egg production hasn't dropped off. If you have a run, try containing them to it for a few days to find out...
