Newbie Georgia Chicken Mom

Hello from Georgia. I just got my 6 chicks from a local farmer. This was his note " These chicks are the offspring of a Lavender Marans rooster (Dark chocolate layer) and dark/speckled (Marans, Welsummer, Barnvelder) or blue egg laying hens." After looking them all up they all seemed like good breeds for backyard chickens. They are about a week old and already love to eat out of my hand and seem pretty happy in their new warm brooder box. My 4 year old might be as happy as I am even though he isn't allowed to hold them yet. Just give them nice gentle pets.
