Mama broody has her chicks out and about several days after they hatch. She builds their immunity and digestive systems by exposing them to the soil in her yard. She does not protect them from drafts. As 3RC states, her husbandry methods are vastly different than TLWR and mine. You will find your own path simply by using common sense. There is no one right or wrong way to do it.
