Newbie hatching basics

Nope, always an absolute crap shoot.
Hubs and myself have started hedging bets at this point.

Haha well then I guess the first hurdle is fertility then hatching and finally if they’re even female! (Unless you’re looking for a male). Well that will be equally exciting.

Ok so today at 2pm is day 21. One egg is moving every time I talk into the bator, and one has just pipped the outside shell, I heard a few little chip noises with my stethoscope that I had on the bator and it was that!!!

Omg the first one is out!! Is it sad that I cried a little bit (happy cry) all out safe and sound, the other eggs are now chirping away just not pipped yet, shall I just leave them to it?

Yes, leave em to do their thing unless you have patience and time to look at em for hours to do their thing.

I wanna see pictures!! I love newly hatched chicks! Well once they’re fluffy haha

Do yourself a favor, when they're all dry and fluffy.... smell one.
Their baby scent dosen't last long but it is lovely.
Whoo, maybe next year we will see some grandchickens!

I’ve done as you said, a second one hatched about an hour ago! So that’s two out of four. I did quickly check the other two, as I was putting more water in and I think one has not made it and the other is still going so will just sit and be patient. I will add pics as soon as no.2 has fluffed up and can put them together in a brooder as I didn’t want one being lonely in there . This is the best thing ever! My kids are in awe too
