some might but not through the tinny black probe on most common thermometers, some made for incubation might, or some wireless ones might, i just stick the whole thing in mine and use a spare wireless one for quick temp checks.

Its the circulated air unit with an electronic thermostat.

temp at 99.5 with 35% humidity for first 18 days. let it dry to 25% then add a teaspoon or 2 to bring it back to 35. On day 18 add water to bring to 70% and lock it down. do not open till they hatch and dry.GL

Hi, I am also in Michigan and just got the same incubator. I am waiting for my Icelandics to start laying again so I can hatch some. It will be my first time hatching too. Good luck with your hatch. Please feel free to join in on the Michigan chat thread. The Michigan area Chickenstock plans are already underway.

Wilobrookfarms, I am sure you know this already but I wanted to note that the settings for Serama eggs are a bit different from the larger chicken eggs. I believe there is a thread on BYC related to the Genesis and Serama hatching. I will try a search and see what I come up with.

Through previous research, I have also read it is actually better to hand turn the Serama eggs (if you are able to) 3 times a day. Also, make sure to place the incubator where there are no drafts or temperature fluctuations. (I'm just throwing stuff out off of the top of my head, you may or may not need the info.)

I didn't know there was such a thread.
Please post it when you find it.

As far as the humidity, I practiced with my barnyard eggs and noticed that when I had the humidity in the 60's, I got drowned chicks. That made me SO SAD!!

The hatches in my hovabator 1588 do fine when I just fill the center trough and re-fill about every 2-3 days (when I see the humidity drop).
