Newbie here and just got our first egg!!

Been following the forum and you all give such good advice on here..Love it..Decided to join after we got our first egg from one of our Red Stars yesterday..Our Red Star Shirley who is 17 1/2 weeks old was in one of the nest boxes and I checked later and sure enough..A perfect egg!!...I was so excited you would have thought i won the lottery...Our Red Stars Laverne and Shirley are 17 1/2 weeks and our BO's Yetta and Sylvia are 16 weeks and our RIR's Val and Fran are also 16 weeks....I have never thought I would enjoy having chickens but raising them from baby chicks and watching them grow has been rewarding.. they have their own personality and just take to everything you introduce to them so well....I'm happy to be here and look forward to hearing and sharing chicken advice...
 
mine will be 6 weeks old saturday so I guess I have awhile:(
but I will be excited too when I see my 1st!
so what are you gonna make with it?
who gets the 1st egg at your house?

@cpwhip The time will go by soon enough!...We have the egg in the frig...My husband wants to use it for cornbread...lol....I want to scramble it when I get some more!!......@Elphaba2140 Thanks and yes it was!!!

Before you crack that egg you may want to blow it out as a keepsake. I kept all of my girl's first eggs and made Christmas ornaments out of some of their first eggs. Then I just scrambled the egg inside for scrambled eggs or omelets.
