I have had chickens for about 10 years building a coop using part of a dog kennel. These chickens were wild, just roaming around the neighborhood and decided to catch these chickens (or generations of them) to stop bad boys from capturing them, especially the rooster for game. I've been doing the best I could until now. Kingy, the rooster has been with me the longest and he's around 11 or 12 years of age. It's molting season and for the first time, he's sleeping outside the chicken coop in the pen. The rest (4 hens) sleep inside the chicken coop. I don't know if it's because of his molting that he's acting strangely or is it age? I hardly hear him crow but he's still drinking water and eating. Is this normal?
