Newbie here....please help!

I had a Egyptian Fayoumis die from heat exhaustion a while back. (miscommunication led to cage being moved and sun shifted in afternoon.

She began to have strange pooping episode before she died. was pretty sure organ damage/ failure caused this. Maybe your chicken has the same to a lesser degree.
My two cents.

I am new to this, so I apologize if this is a dumb question, but is Nutrena Chick Starter the same as "scratch"?

Today, I have cleaned the poo from her back end several times with Luke warm water. Afterwards, I wrapped her up in a towel, and fed her the electrolyte water, after manually pushing her poo through myself. It is really equivalent to pressing toothpaste through a tube. Ick, I know!

Everyone has been so helpful. Thank you all SO much for helping me help this sweet girl. She is hanging in there. She still cannot stand or walk, but she is alert. She is pecking around at the bedding close to her, she is tucking her head in her wing when she is sleepy. I will continue to implement all the helpful tips you all have given me. I am so thankful for you all!

A couple of questions...what were the "strange" pooping conditions, more specifically ? Also, was your girl unable to use her legs!?

Yes the bird had trouble standing or sitting up right. It devolved into unable to lift head then death.
Pooping episode was little to no pooping then as the bird got worse many large, runny poops. Im pretty sure that was organs shutting down. All of this happened in the span of 4 hrs.

Check her reflexes by pressing your finger nail in her skin. Start at her toes and work your way up the leg until she flinches from the poke. Truly paralyzed she won't flinch.

Did you read the link h2oratt posted at the bottom of the last page? Very interesting. Many of the symptoms sound similar. Sounds like you may have caught her just in time. She will need nursing, and you have to decide if it is something you are willing to do. No guarantee she will get better either, but since she has survived this long, I'm hopeful.

Kathy, great suggestion. I tried this this morning to check for true paralysis. I started at her toes, as you suggested, and made my way up her legs. She did not flinch at all until I got to her "elbow" area.
