Newbie here, Wanted to thank you all

Glad you made it through the first 6 weeks.

It will just continue to be fun.

Congratulations and welcome.

3 of those roos will probably be delicious!

I have white leghorns. I wanted eggs. not so much for the meat because I am not sure that I could kill my chickens. I have been looking into some other types of chickens because they are cute and some have very pretty colors. I was thinking of getting some that tend to go broody and raise chicks to sell because it's hard to find chickens in this area.

and yes they do get big fast. I work 40 hrs in a row and they seemed to double in size every weekend.

Thanks to all for the welcome

What we did was make a chicken coop out of a 10 x 10 concrete area that we used for the dogs to get in their dog house. (moved them next to the barn) We are adding the 6 x 30 run in back of the coop. got the fencing up today. looks good!! the girls are very curious every time we open the door. they stand at the edge of the door twisting their heads all around trying to figure out what is out the door. 8 weeks old and never been outside yet. poor babies. they are close though.

Wow, that is a really nice setup you have there! Your birds look happy and healthy. (I love how you have the stream on your property; that is so cool -- and I can just tell that the ducks enjoy it!)

Thanks for sharing!

We moved to Tenn. in 94 after coming here in February for a vacation. It was -20 and -65 with the windchill back in MI. I'm sure you both remember it if you were old enough. I worked at a gas station and we could only go out for a few seconds, read one pump, run back in and warm up and that was with gloves on.
We have been telling everyone we are on a working vacation. We found this place 5 yrs ago. it's beautiful in the summer.

The ducks love it here. somehow I got lucky and got a boy and a girl. They were happy to just stay in the creek but she started laying eggs in the creek so we had to build something so we could pen her up until she laid the egg. I am an egg-cop, She gives me the egg she is free to go
